Question Description

If there is life elsewhere in the universe, then why haven’t we seen it yet?

This simple question has come to be known as “The Fermi Paradox” and many scientists have struggled to find a suitable answer. In order for us to have an informed discussion about the topic, read this excellent article, which presents six possible explanations of why we haven’t found irrefutable evidence of life in the universe yet.

Choose the one proposed solutions that seems the most convincing to you. Explain why you think this is the best explanation. Respond to at least one of your classmates in order to receive full credit.

I’ve read many ideas relating to life on another planet, but more humorous than academic. Since taking this course I’m glad I was able to come across more logical solutions as to why humans have yet to find evidence of live in the universe. I’m no subject matter expert but I would have to agree with the “Rare Earth” hypothesis simply because our milky way for starters is too big. There are many earth like planets that were discovered but we still don’t have the technology to make advances know how life could be formed on a planet other than earth assumptions.

The Zoo Hypothesis seems the most likely scenario to me. I think if there are aliens or some other form of intelligent life out there they probably are skeptical to interact. Maybe they are more advanced than us or maybe they are just scared. I think some UFO sightings are possibly real and that could be their way of seeing how we react. Maybe they dont think we are ready yet to know. I think us living in a stimulation is by far the most ridiculous theory. There is way too many variables for that to be realistic. The other theories could be possible especially the one that says that aliens are broadcasting but we dont know how to listen.
