Writing Your Essay

1. Come up with an argument about why or how the painting is representing the social values that you believe it represents.
2. Use quotes from the chapters from at least two modules to support your ideas. The sections from the GCC Writing Handbook that will help you with quoting and summarizing are “Integrating Quotes – Building a Citation Sandwich and “Scholarly Moves with Sources.”
3. Describe the elements of the painting and make an argument for how those elements represent the social values you have chosen.
4. Your essay should be 1,000-1,200 words.
5. Cite your source(s) using MLA format. The sections from the GCC Writing Handbook that will help you with this is “MLA Citation Resources.”
